Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
I have heard this verse before when talking about if spiritual gifts are for today so I figured I would break it down, or at least try.
We see the first says that we (talking about the saints, the holy ones) are no more strangers but are citizens of God's house. What this means is that we are a part of his house, every corner, every room, we can go into and check it out, relaxing in the house. When people bring up verse 20, it's usually the word "foundation" that they cling to. My question is this; if there is no foundation for your house how would you have a house built, what would you stand on Or touch?
The apostles were our foundation, they helped us in showing how to walk in the supernatural, what to do about gifts of the tongues and taught us to edify each other in the spirit. In saying that, that doesn't sound like something that would just disappear, does it? In actuality it sounds like something we desperately need for this generation of christians.
We have gotten so deep into our theologies and certain doctrines that we forget we are supernatural being in christ. We follow traditions where christ never followed traditions (unless you would call putting mud into someone's eyes to make them see traditional healing).
As christians we have the privilege to make the supernatural our natural everyday life. Miracles have never stopped. It is within these foundations that our mortal bodies begin to feel and experience the supernatural God and In seeing that our spirit continues to build us into a great temple For God through the Spirit.
God Bless!
