When I became a christian (and maybe before I became a christian) I started noticing that whenever a christian would bring up God or a Godly conversation the environment would get very awkward. I've always thought it was weird and funny because I would think (and still do), that why do we get like this in these types of conversations? Shouldn't christians get excited to talk about God?
I remember a while back at my job I prayed with one of my clients and he said he was a christian and we both started quoting a little bit of Scripture to each other. A day or few after that I was sitting on a bench and looked over and heard the same guy talking about God and the bible to another client which I soon found out his sons were big in the scriptures. To this day I think about that, that it was cool how relaxed we were just talking about. Here you have people that are coming off of drugs and alcohol and talking about God and the scriptures like it's everyday conversation, while you have the church and the ones who possibly grew up christian get Awkward when it comes to Godly talk.
I know whenever I hear someone talk about God or even when I bring it up to someone I get a little excited. How can I not? I've seen him work, I've felt his presence, and come on, who wouldn't want to talk about their creator and the powerfully awesome things that he can do that are all bundled up in the gospel.
The only reason that I can think of why chrI stains get awkward is because we feel/know we aren't living a Godly life. I think too many Christians try too hard to live the Godly life. Jesus said his burden is light. We shouldn't have to try, we should just be letting him take over and walk in love.
